The QRC West building in Toronto seems to have a magnetic pull to us here at Designstor. We have a long history with the popular development, dating back to 2007 when we first partnered with Sweeny Co. Architects to produce the renderings. We have seen it through from conception to construction, and now, with the Designstor rendering challenge, we’ve added a new layer to our relationship with the building.
We challenged the team at Designstor to recreate this photo taken by Doublespace photography in a short two weeks. The technical skills behind this challenge are ones we apply every day, but this challenge allowed our team to further investigate the close relationship between photography and rendering. Matching reflections, backgrounds, interior lighting, building geometry, and relationships between sky and exposure are just some of the challenges each team member faced in replicating this image.
